The Asheville Citizens Times reports:

"After slow years with too many properties posting for sale signs, the Asheville housing market showed steady improvement in 2013, with 24 percent more homes sold last year and a similar 23 percent increase in building permits for new homes.

“I’m excited about the year ahead,” said builder Christopher Fox, the new president of the Asheville Home Builders Association. “We’re a destination market and a growing city that’s a truly desirable place to raise a family. Those families will need homes.”
